A different approach to running.
My basic philosophy is that training is a Lifestyle and running is an Art.
I believe that not only is running a metaphor for life, but the more care and attention to detail you give running, the more it gives back. I also believe that running itself is one of the greatest teachers we can possibly have.
Go Active Running is dedicated to this art of the active lifestyle, supported by the principles of natural running as expressed in body and mind - and fueled by the pure pleasure of physicality as it contributes to quality of life.
It is inspired by the coaching philosophy, pure artistry and extraordinary athleticism of celebrated Scottish ultra-runner and mountain athlete Donnie Campbell (founder of Get Active Running), with whom I have coached since 2018.
The principles are born from Donnie’s tens of thousands of hours running the hills of his native Isle of Skye and honed in the Kenyan running training camps of Iten. They make use of the latest findings from exercise and sport science as well as the most solid, useful and imminently applicable techniques from Sport Psychology.
Go Active Running coaching services, in Tokyo or online, will start in the Spring of 2021, upon pending international coaching certification.
My personal coaching formation is centered on the performance enhancement and injury-free training of long-distance runners and walkers, from beginners through to experienced athletes. My approach is based not only on this solid foundation of studies in the contemporary science of crafting individualized training plans that empower - coupled with insights from Donnie’s wisdom and experience - but also my own extensive background in understanding the principles of mind/body mastery from years as a world-class professional in the performing arts.
Running is a pure embodiment of Artistry.
The great coach and mountain athlete Jordi Canals has said:
Running is an art... like painting a picture or composing a piece of music. And to create a work of art, you have to be clear about four basic concepts: technique, effort, talent and inspiration. And all this must be combined in dynamic equilibrium.
