What is the Mind of Improv?
Well, there are three rules of engagement:
Life demands creativity. To be creative is the human condition.
As theatre pioneer Viola Spolin said:
“Everyone can act. Everyone can improvise.
Anyone who wishes to can play in theatre and learn to become “stage worthy.”
If you ever had a dream that you remember, or imagined something bad that might happen, you are creative.
It's that simple.
All the world's a stage and life is theatre.
But what is theatre and what is its relevance to life?
And furthermore, what is the essence of theatre?
Of all the dogmas that are out there, I doubt many would disagree that it is about life, and breathing life into life - that within whatever bounds we function, we live with spontaneity.
Theatre, in essence, is about the wisdom of spontaneity. And that comes from authenticity and trust.
To paraphrase Viktor Frankl, between the trigger and the response lies infinite freedom.
With all this talk of life, let's turn the word itself into an acronym which we can use to address everything that theatre can teach us about life:
Simple, right?
In learning to truly listen, to fully realize our true individuality, to embody true freedom and exalt in true expression, all the world truly is a stage - and what a wonderful philosophy for life.
It's about the world as a stage.
The body as an instrument.
It's about play.
About presence.

- Get ready for some serious fun.
- Roll up your sleeves and untuck your shirt.

- Listening - being attuned to others and the environment.
- Individuality - appreciating our unique offer is to understand interdependence.
- Freedom - with liberty comes responsibility.
- Expression - there is no true expression without deep listening.
